Description

After four months of bad weather, I finally got a clear night to photograph one of the most famous and fascinating objects in the sky: the Crab Nebula (M1). This is the remnant of a supernova explosion that was observed by Chinese and Japanese astronomers in the year 1054. The supernova was so bright that it could be seen during the day for a month, and at night for almost two years.

The image I took is heavily cropped because the angular size of the nebula (about 0.1 degrees) is not a good match with the field of view of my setup (about 1 degree).
